Nature Lovers Delight

A trip that combines the Costa Rica´s natural treasures with the adventure of its white-water rivers.  This will be a great opportunity for a close encounter with this small highly diverse country and its friendly people as you travel through San Jose, Sarapiquí, Tortuguero and Golfito.

Day 1: Arrive in San José
At the airport, our representative will meet you and take you to your hotel, which is located in the heart of San José´s cultural district.  During the transfer, take advantage of your bilingual driver and ask him any questions you may have regarding your arrangements.  Overnight at Country Inn and Suites hotel.

Day 2: San Jose - Sarapiqui
After breakfast, a local bilingual guide will meet you at your hotel to take you to Sarapiqui river for a white water rafting trip of pure adrenaline, unsurpassed beauty, wildlife and exhilarating rapids.   Sarapiqui area stands out for its primary forests, swamps, and plantations, in a biologically rich territory, with temperatures that oscillate between 26°C and 28°C; a hot, humid land that can be explored by way of the dense network of trails within the protected areas, which are of great importance for the conservation of birds and other animal species.  Overnight at La Quinta de Sarapiqui lodge.  Breakfast, lunch.

Day 3: Sarapiqui - Tortuguero
After breakfast, we will take you to Guapiles by private ground transfer, once in Guapiles, you will connect with a shared ground transfer to Caño Blanco dock, provided by Evergreen lodge.  The last portion of your transportation to Tortuguero is a shared boat transfer.

Tortuguero is an area of scenic beauty and a site of refuge for the marine turtles to lay their eggs.  During the boat transfer you can observe small groups of houses among the plantations of cassava, annatto, and bananas.  In the afternoon, a local bilingual guide will take you on a tour to Tortuguero village, where you will learn about this remote community and also about the green turtles.  Overnight at Evergreen Lodge.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 4: Tortuguero
After breakfast, take advantage of the free morning to walk on the trails at the property or just relax en enjoy the lodge’s facilities. In the afternoon, the local bilingual guide will take you on a boat tour through the Tortuguero canals, a very good opportunity to see several species of flora and fauna.  Overnight at Evergreen lodge.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 5: Tortuguero - Golfo Dulce
After breakfast, a local bilingual guide will meet you at the lodge to take you to the Tortuguero airstrip by boat for a local flight to San Jose, once in San Jose you will connect with a local flight to Puerto Jimenez.  The transportation to Golfo Dulce will be done by ground and boat. Golfo Dulce is a place where you can enjoy the quiet waters of the gulf and its mangroves and the Piedras Blancas National Park, nowhere else in Costa Rica you will find such intense and diverse tropical flora and fauna. Free afternoon to relax, explore the area on your own or take optional activities: kayaking, in shore fishing or hiking.  Overnight at Nicuesa lodge.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 6: Golfo Dulce
After breakfast, choose one of the following guided activities: kayak tour of Golfo Dulce, Esquinas mangrove jungle river (kayak or motorboat), Rain forest/waterfall hiking tours in Piedras Blancas National Park, botanical garden tour, Golfo Dulce boat/snorkeling tour or Golfo Dulce in-shore fishing.  Overnight at Nicuesa lodge.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 7: Golfo Dulce
After breakfast, free day to relax or to choose another available activity.  Overnight at Nicuesa lodge. Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 8: Golfo Dulce - San Jose
After breakfast, we will take you to the Puerto Jimenez airstrip by shared boat and ground transfer, and you will connect with a local flight to San Jose, once in the city, we will take you to your hotel.  Overnight at Country Inn and Suites hotel.  Breakfast.

Day 9: Fly out from San Jose
Today we will meet you at the hotel to take you to Juan Santamaría International Airport by private ground transfer, in time to meet your flight back home.
