1. Combo Tour:
La Paz Waterfall Gardens, Poás Volcano, Doka

Cost: $75 per Adult; $60 per Child
Pick up time: The tour bus will pick
you up at your hotel (downtown San Jose approximate
pick up time begins at 6:00 a.m., near the airport approximately
7:00 a.m.). If your hotel is not one of our designated
pick up locations, they will accommodate an alternate
pick up for an additional charge. This tour is a complete
package that allows you to see what we feel is the true
essence of Costa Rica. the first stop is breakfast at
a local café where you will enjoy an authentic
Costa Rican style breakfast. they will then take you
to a three-generation coffee plantation and show you
how coffee is picked, milled and ground. Once you’ve
found out first hand, or ‘cup’, why Costa
Rican coffee is so famous, it is off to the Poás
Volcano. This crater volcano is one of the four active
volcanoes in Costa Rica. The crystal blue sulfur pools
will amaze and enthrall you. But, that’s not all:
the last stop is the La Paz Waterfall Gardens. Over
seventy acres of lush landscaping, towering waterfalls,
hummingbird gardens and the Largest Butterfly Observatory
in the world is sure to be the highlight of your tour,
if not of your stay in Costa Rica. Your guide will walk
you through the butterfly gardens, hummingbird feeders
and through the trails along the cascading La Paz River.
Here you will experience the majesty of five incredible
waterfalls as you walk above, below and right next to
the magnificent falls. Once you have experienced the
trails, you will enjoy our Costa Rican buffet while
taking in the breathtaking view of the La Paz River
Valley. They will have you back at your hotel around
5:00 p.m. (Just in time to drop a postcard to friends
and family back home about your incredible day.)

La Paz Waterfall Gardens Tour
Cost: $55 per Adult; $50 per Child
Pick Up Time: Our guided tour bus will
pick you up at your hotel (downtown San Jose approximate
pick up time begins at 10:00 a.m., near the airport
approximately 11:00 a.m.). If your hotel is not one
of our designated pick up locations, we will accommodate
an alternate pick up for an additional charge. This
is quickly becoming one of our most popular tours. When
we’re on vacation, they don’t want to have
to get up early just to go on a good tour. So they have
combined the best of both worlds: an excellent tour
with a later start time. Upon arriving at La Paz Waterfall
Gardens, they will have fresh coffee and juice ready
and waiting. Our guide will walk you through the trails
of the butterfly gardens, hummingbird feeders and through
the spectacular trails along the La Paz River. Here
you will experience the majesty of five incredible waterfalls
as you walk above, below and right next to the magnificent
falls. Once you have experienced the trails, you will
enjoy our Costa Rican buffet while taking in the breathtaking
view of the La Paz River Valley. (Oh, and don’t
forget the gift shop!) We will have you back at your
hotel around 4:00 p.m.
3. Private Tour with Transportation
from San José
Cost: Approximately $80 per person
Pick Up Time: According to your scheduleThis
is the same as the La Paz Waterfall Gardens Tour, except,
a private guide/driver will pick you up at your chosen
location and take you directly to La Paz Waterfall Gardens.
Your guide will then walk you through the trails of
the butterfly gardens, hummingbird feeders and through
the spectacular trails along the La Paz River. Here
you will experience the majesty of five incredible waterfalls
as you walk above, below and right next to the magnificent
falls. Once you have walked the trails, you will enjoy
our Costa Rican buffet while taking in the breathtaking
view of the La Paz River Valley.
4. Private Guides
Waterfall Gardens is primarily a self-guided tour, with
specific directional signage and many educational exhibits
about the plants, birds and butterflies to enjoy at
your own pace. However, we do have representatives in
our butterfly and hummingbird gardens to answer questions
and explain topics in greater detail. Because we realize
that some visitors would like to further enhance their
hiking experience with a seasoned guide, we offer guided
tours as well
A. Bird Watching Tour with
Dr. Aaron Sekerak
This privately guided tour is for the beginner, intermediate
or ‘professional’ birder. Dr. Aaron will
guide you through the trails of Waterfall Gardens and
point out the spectacular birds and animals that have
designated Waterfall Gardens their home. Price: $80
per group, 5 people or less; 2 hours; Limited Availability.
B. Trail Tour
One of our trained staff will expertly guide you through
the trails of Waterfall Gardens. Every step of the way
they will impart information that you might otherwise
miss (even things that aren’t in the tour book).
Of course you know the Caligo Butterfly is called the
Owl, but do you know why? And would you really know
how long a hummingbird’s tongue is? Oh, no, we
can’t tell you the answers…you’ll
have to come and find out for yourself. Price: $35 per
group, 5 people or less; 1 hour, 45 minutes; Limited
Availability.
5. Private Groups
They can accommodate private groups based on availability.
Our Orchid Terrace accommodates up to 85 guests and
our upstairs lounge accommodates up to 50. They offer
full buffet dining with incredible views of the La Paz
River Valley. |
